Brief counselling notes are anonymised and coded and are stored securely.
Some personal information, such as your contact details, emails and appointment information, may be held electronically where necessary. Electronic information is kept securely and appropriate steps are taken to protect your confidentiality.
Counselling is confidential.
There are limited circumstances where information may need to be disclosed, for example where required by law or where there is a serious safeguarding concern involving you or another person.
Anonymised information may also be discussed during professional clinical supervision. Supervisors are required to maintain confidentiality.
Personal information will not otherwise be shared with other organisations unless there is an appropriate lawful reason to do so.
Counselling notes and relevant contact information are normally retained securely for seven years following the end of counselling, after which they will be securely destroyed.
Other information will only be retained for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet any applicable legal or professional requirements.

I will acknowledge your data protection complaint within 30 days of receiving it. I will investigate your concerns appropriately and without unnecessary delay, keep you informed about the progress of the complaint where appropriate, and let you know the outcome.
